Adobe Camera Raw 11 2 19

In today's update to Camera Raw and Lightroom Classic CC, Adobe introduced a new feature. Here's some of what they have to say about it: Movist safari extension.

Enhance Details is introduced in Adobe Camera Raw 11.2. Powered by Adobe Sensei, Enhance Details produces crisp detail, improved color rendering, more accurate renditions of edges, and fewer artifacts. Enhance Details is especially useful for making large prints, where fine details are more visible. This feature applies to raw mosaic files from cameras with Bayer sensors (Canon, Nikon, Sony, and others) and Fujifilm X-Trans sensors.

Camera raw files must be processed before they can be used, typically through software provided by the camera manufacturer or through a converter like the Camera Raw plug-in for Adobe Photoshop® software. The challenge for end users and camera vendors alike is that there is no publicly-documented and supported format for storing raw camera data. Adobe Camera Raw, which lets you import and enhance raw images, has been a must-have tool for professional photographers right since it was first released in 2003. Applications that support Adobe Camera Raw include Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, After Effects, and Bridge. The Camera Raw 5.2 and DNG Converter 5.2 are now available on Adobe.com. (For Photoshop CS4 customers I recommend choosing the ‘Updates' option from the Help menu) This release includes additional features and new camera support.

Then I tried it on a Siemens star image. Here are some highly magnified shots:

That is very impressive. Most of the false color has been removed, with absolutely no loss in sharpness of unaliased detail.

The April 2020 release of Adobe Camera Raw (version 12.2.1) adds support for new cameras and lenses. The release also fixes a crash that occurs when you use Adobe Camera Raw (version 12.0) and Bridge (version 10.0) together on macOS Catalina (10.15). For the full list of supported cameras and lens profiles, see these resources: Supported camera. What a sad surprise seeing Camera RAW 11.2.1 published April 2, 2019 and not being available at same time for other Adobe products. Aren't they family? As commented by product support, this is still being worked and there isn't a target date to have such update available for Elements 2019 users.

Next up was some fabric:

Wow! It's not perfect, what what in improvement.

The correction is processor intensive. It takes about 10 seconds for a Z7 conversion, and uses a lot of GPU cycles:

I don't know how Adobe is doing this, but this could really be a help in some situations.

It doesn't do everything. Here are a couple of versions of a shot with some Z7 PDAF banding, and the banding is unaffected.

Additionally, Adobe Lightroom is built upon the same powerful raw image processing technology that powers Adobe Camera Raw.
